2016 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato

Aston Martin has announced that it will produce a limited production run of 99 examples of the Vanquish Zagato, which it revealed at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como, Italy recently. It was originally unveiled as a concept but now it is to be built in limited series production form – just 99 of the Vanquish Zagato coupe will be built.

The car uses the same V12 engine as the standard Vanquish, with some extra improvements it is now sporting 591bhp. Performance is marginally better than the standard Aston Martin, with a 0-60mph time of 3.5 seconds. This added performance is matched to a unique suspension setup that is more grand tourer than all out back-road menace. This is a GT driving experience.

Let’s be honest though, the key to any Zagato car is the stunning looks and the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato doesn’t disappoint. For the Vanquish, extensive use of carbon fiber means that split lines can be reduced, replaced instead with large single-piece panels.

The LED tail-lights echo those of the Vulcan track car, albeit with a nod to the original Zagato road cars. The wing mirrors reference the One-77 hypercar while the entire rear of the car appears not unlike the soon to be launched DB11. Also worth noting are the quad exhaust tips. And let’s not forget the iconic double-bubble roof which is has been a Zagato trademark for decades.
