1922 Aston Martin Green Pea

The oldest surviving Aston Martin was nicknamed the ‘green pea’ by Ms Marion Agnew. She purchased the car from Aston after they had campagned it in several races.

One of these was the French Grand Prix at Stasbourg in 1933.

Builton chassis 1913 or TT1, the Green Pea was upgraded throughout its life and has traits from the first few decades of its life. The current owner bought the car in 1958 and has maintained it since then.

The first Aston Martin Grand Prix car featured a 1486 cc engine unit delivering 55 bhp at 4200 rpm and a top speed of 85 mph. The car was fitted with two seats with on off-set to accommodate the riding mechanic whose job was to pressurise the fuel tank via a hand pipe and built with the voiturette body style, the vehicle weighed 750 kgs which is 45 kgs lighter than today’s AMR22 challenger.
